Gelar Batik Nusantara 2009: Batik Forever

During five days of batik exhibition held entitled "Gelar Batik Nusantara (GBN) 2009" at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from 26 to 30 August 2009. GBN this time the theme "Batik Forever", meaning batik charisma will not be restrained during vanished. GBN 2009, followed by 400 companies from various regions in Indonesia and occupied 300 booths.
GBN 2009 organized by Yayasan Batik Indonesia in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry Department. Besides batik exhibition, also held activities to visitors, including batik workshop, batik fashion design competitions, talk shows, product demonstrations and direct sales.
GBN 2009 was opened by the First Lady; Lady Ani Yudhoyono and provide award "Craft Heritage" to Joop Ave; as batik observers who contributed in the development of batik in Indonesia and abroad. In addition, also given awards to 5 people batik crafters who consistently work and devoted himself to making batik.
Interestingly, after the opening GBN, the First Lady watched batik fashion show that was exhibited by the ambassador's wife and 4 female ambassador to Indonesia ie Simbabwe, Suriname, Mexico and China.
